About
Welcome to my page!
While I have lived in Wisconsin for over 30 years, I grew up in Maine and Maine has had a significant influence on my music. I played music as a young person but set it aside while I obtained an engineering degree, started my career, married, and had a family (two girls). Although I sang in church choirs, I didn’t really start making music again until about 15 years ago. My involvement in “Make Our Own Music Gathering” (moomusic.org), a non-profit that sponsors folk music weekends, really kick-started my current musical journey. I first learned autoharp and then guitar. I became more involved in “MOO” serving on the board for many years (I am the current vice president). I organized a monthly “folk jam” where people come to sing and play folk music together. Eventually, my confidence grew to the point where I tried some open mics and found that I really enjoy offering music for people.
I am now retired and have more time to devote to music. I was fortunate to get connected with “Four Guys with Guitars” which offers senior center and memory care visits. This allows me to perform music for seniors several times a month. Performing in public has also become more of a focus starting with open mics. I appeared at “The Coffee House Milwaukee” in January of 2024 and again in November of 2024 when I offered a program I call “Maine Songs and Stories”.
I have always enjoyed folk music. Schooner Fare, a group from Maine, was an early favorite. I also love the music of the 60s “folk boom” and the music of contemporary folk genre singer/songwriters. Gordon Bok, a singer/songwriter from Maine, is a favorite but there are many others. The music of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, from old country to standards, has become a focus since this is what resonates with memory care and senior center residents. Some of these have become real favorites as well.

My musical journey continues. I hope that I can be a small part of your journey. All the best,
Tony
